Charles W Schantz, 66, of West Mifflin, formerly of Lower Burrell died Saturday April 14, 2007 at Jefferson Regional Health Center Pittsburgh.He was born November 23, 1940 in Logans Ferry, Plum Boro to the late Wilbert T "Whip" and Ruth Olive Imm Schantz and was a 1958 graduate of Plum High School. In 1962 he earned a Bachelors degree in mathematics from Geneva college in Beaver County. He taught mathematics at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School in Ebensburg and later at Tarentum Junior High School.After his teaching career, he was an independent contractor employed by various companies as a computer programmer analyst. He retired in 2003 from Wesco Distribution in Pittsburgh.An avid Pittsburgh Pirate, Steeler, and Pe3nguin fan, he also enjoyed hunting, golfing, and vacationing at Disney World in Orlando.
He is survived by his children Timothy C (Coleen) Schantz of Oakdale, Christopher C (Tammy) Schantz of West Mifflin, and Beth Anne (James) Dabruzzo of Pittsburgh; 3 grandsons, Timothy N Schantz, Jordan C Schantz, and Daniel Fitzgerald; siblings, Thomas (Irene) Schantz of Chicago IL, Doris Coudriet of Tarentum, Elaine Schantz of New Kensington, Lois (Frank) Bakewell of Lower Burrell, Linda (John) Brem of Allegheny Township, andKevin (Mary Lou) Schantz ofHolland PA; brother-in-law Robert Hrivnak of Lower Burrell, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Janet Hrivnak and a granddaughter Chelsey Lee Schantz.Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park Lower Burrell.
