Margarite F. "Peg" Quarles, 70, of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of Lower Burrell, died Thursday (October 16, 2003) in Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, Virginia Beach. Born November 7, 1932, in Logans Ferry, she lived in Lower Burrell most of her life.
She worked at Grants, Hills and Ames Department Store, all of Lower Burrell. Mrs. Quarles enjoyed playing bingo, card club and bowling.
Survivors include two sons, Otis (Judy) Quarles of Lower Burrell and Charles (Carrie) Quarles, with whom she lived, of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Mrs. Debra (John) Anderson of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mrs. Cheryl (Elmer) Long of Leechburg; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Shank of Tarentum; and a sister, Dolores Quarles of Springdale.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Mrs. Autumn (Eric) Lehman, Mrs. Stacey (Scott) Lehosky, Peggy Jo Long, Jari, Fletcher and Alec James Quarles, Mrs. Jackie (Phillip) Pater and David (Deana) Balatta.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Quarles Sr.; her parents, Jacob and Ada Viola Imm Shank; and two brothers, Gerald and James Shank.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Wednesday in the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, 2877 Leechburg Rd., Lower Burrell, where services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Bill Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
